American Red Cross Call Center Specialist (Casework) 2nd/3rd shift in Louisville, Kentucky

In order to meet the needs of our military service members and their families, our Call Center operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week every day of the year. At this time we are in need of candidates to work our 2nd shift (3:30pm-12am) and 3rd shift (12am-8:30am) and this position pays at a rate of $12.47/hr.

Our Telephonic Case Workers are unique and remarkable individuals and are responsible for the intake, verification, and delivery of emergency messages between service members and their families, as well as a variety of other services including;

  • An emergency communications network available 24/7 to assist in family emergencies

  • Verification of emergency leave information to help military commands make informed decisions

  • Access to financial assistance

  • Confidential counseling, information and referral and other social services

In order to be successful in this position, you need to not only be able to treat each caller with dignity and respect but be able to active listening (employing reasoning and questioning strategies to better understand what the clients are going through). All candidates need to have good computer literacy and the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM (words per minute). Having a bachelors degree (while preferred) is not required but we are seeking candidates with solid work history.
