The American Red Cross Indiana Region is seeking a Volunteer Services Specialist. This position will be based in our Bloomington, Indiana Chapter. This is a full time, hourly paid (non-exempt) position and a valid driver's license is required!


Assist with supporting and coordinating the outreach and recruitment of volunteers within specific geographies. Assist regional/chapter leaders in scheduling volunteer meetings, orientation and recognition events. Aids in advancing assigned program and services to meet Chapter's goals and objectives. Represents the Red Cross within the assigned jurisdiction for the purpose of volunteer engagement.


Responsible for identifying and developing volunteer initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility in the community. Assist in implementing and executing programs, projects and initiatives to increase and strengthen the engagement of volunteers in assigned geographic territory. Work closely with Volunteer Center Of Expertise leaders in the execution and implementation of specific programs and service delivery with the Chapter's jurisdiction. Advances assigned program and services to meet regional/chapter goals and objectives. Represents Red Cross on key volunteer engagements and serve as liaison between Volunteer Center Of Expertise and key volunteer leaders.

At the direction of the Regional Volunteer Services Officer/Senior Specialist:• Outreach & Recruitment: Support outreach and recruitment of volunteers per identified needs of Volunteer Assessment• Scheduling & Coordination: Scheduling and coordination of in-person orientation/placement of volunteers by volunteer team, volunteer meetings, and volunteer recognition events as planned and executed by volunteers.• Program Services: Assist in programs and services to meet goals and objectives set by the ChapterQUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred. Associate's degree with 5 years of experience or other combination of education and experience which provides an equivalent background is acceptable. Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in social service programs. Demonstrated experience of managing multiple prioritiesOther: Intermediate proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.Travel: May involve travelEssential Functions/Physical Requirements: Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.Work Conditions: Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughoutchapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system.
